Miss Cassie

Six years. That’s how long I waited for this photo session. When I was pregnant with my oldest, my friend Erin, a very talented photographer, graciously agreed to take my maternity photos. They are images that I treasure so much. In fact, Sophia was just flipping through the album the other day and got such a kick out of seeing photos of me pregnant with her. I told Erin that someday, I would return the favor. After Sophia was born, she generously donated her time again to photograph us as a new family. And once again, I pleaded that I could do the same for her some day.

Over the years, as I enjoyed the joys of motherhood, Erin waited for her time to come. It is agonizing to watch a friend desperately want to become a mother, but couldn’t. We rejoiced with her with the birth of her first daughter Maggie. And when Miss Cassie was born earlier this month, I was beyond thrilled when Erin asked me to photograph her.

To be able to capture this miracle of life and photograph Erin as a mother is something that meant the world to me. It took six years. But it was totally worth the wait.
